One of the most exciting events of last year was, without a doubt, the introduction of the Vans x Star Wars shoes collection. In early 2014 plans for the release of the 7th episode were unveiled and fans of the Star Wars movie series felt their passion revived once again. Since the first episode was released in 1977 by 20th Century Fox, a phenomenon was born, with comic books, television series, computer and video games being released year after year.
The collaboration with Vans, an American shoemaker known for stylish, innovative and high quality products was a no brainer. The success the brand have had with Marvel comics or with their Rock Band Series recommended them as a great fit for the upcoming Star Wars shoes collection
The first wave of the Star Wars Vans shoes collection was released in April 2014, being inspired by the dark side of the force to bring you a new line of shoes like you have never seen before. The response was vey enthusiastic, with many of the styles being sold out in the first week.
This Star Wars Vans shoes collection featured some of the favorite movie’s characters such as Yoda, Boba Fett, Darth Vader, and the Stormtroopers, all blended into unique artworks imprinted on the shoes. The most successful style was, however the Vans New Hope slip-on, featuring Tom’s Chantrell classic movie artwork of the first movie released in 1977. This style sold out very fast and they were released again in the next wave before Christmas 2014.
For this collection several types of shoes Vans classic styles were used, including the Authentic, Classic, Old-Skool, Slip-On, Sk8-Hi, and Era fit. This way the outreach of this series was wide enough to include everyone, no matter of shoe style preference.
