Pokemon and Puma are partnering this fall to bring an exquisite collection of shoes that will surely have fans of the anime series excited. The collaboration was first announced on Twitter at the beginning of November. This is yet another collaboration of a footwear company with a Japanese franchise with Vans and One Piece collab dropping just a day earlier. The Pokemon media company has become immensely popular since its inception in 1996 as a video game and evolved in many ways, including anime series and merchandise. This partnership with Puma comes after previous ones with Crocs and Clarks Originals, all celebrating 25 years of existence for the Japanese franchise.
The Pokemon and Puma shoes series features four of the first generation of monsters on five different sneakers, all bearing elements characteristic to these characters. Pikachu is featured on two styles, the RS-X and the Rider FV; both in yellow with the lightning artwork on the side Puma stripe. The Squirtle, Bulbasaur and Charmander each get their own pair with a customized Rider FV, Slipstream Lo and a Puma Suede in blue, green and orange. Each of these come in a custom box for the series and each shoe features subtle details and symbols for each of the Pokemons on the heel tabs, front and back of the tongues, charms and insoles. All in all the pairing of classic sneakers from Puma with the first generation of Pokemons looks like a great idea. The five pairs have the construction of the classic retro sneakers, with a mesh upper with suede overlays or all suede upper. The quality of the craftsmanship is what you’d expect from Puma, with these being great for everyday wear and surely made to last.
The Pokemon x Puma shoes series will feature sizes for the whole family. The price range is from $55 for pre school sizes to $80 for adults. The official release date is November 12th 2022.
