Overview
The Nike Winflo 10 is here, just in time to have a closer look at this new runner and review its features. For the past decade the Winflo series has been one of Nike’s most popular budget friendly running shoes, being an upgrade to the Interact Run, the Run Swift or the Downshifter. It is a neutral runner that has been catered as an all around athletic shoe and has gained many fans over the years. For the first 8 editions they featured a Zoom unit in the forefoot and Flywire cables; the 2022 version introduced a more modern look and a full Air midsole unit. The 2023 version is very close to its predecessor, with slight improvements in the toe box area and heel collar.
How they Fit
The pair we got for the Nike Winflo 10 was the navy and white pair which was one of the first released for this edition. Like many products introduced lately this one is also part of the Move To Zero campaign, bearing its logo on the heels and “proudly” using at least 20% by weight recycled content. Out of the box the shoes have a modern look, very close to the 9th iteration. They are very lightweight and feel very comfortable from the get go. Nike added more padding in the heel area and the toebox was redesigned for a better fit and that can be felt immediately. They fit true to size with no need to break them in, altho they tend to feel even better after a few runs. If you need to check your Nike size you can do it here.
Upper
The upper of the Nike Winflo 10 is seamless and made of a re-engineered mesh that has different densities for enhanced breathability. The new toe box hugs the foot just right with the mesh allowing some room for those with wider feet, without losing any of the lockdown feel. If until a couple of years ago the Flywire cables ensured that the feet stayed in place, for this version Nike opted for a redesigned upper where a midfoot strap is anchored in the tongue to do the job. The result is excellent stability and reduced weight to the shoe. The heel counter adds to this effect for a nice ride. A downside that we’ve noticed during our Nike Winflo 10 review is that much like the 9th edition the laces often come undone which can be a bit annoying.
Sole Unit
The sole unit of the Nike Winflo 10 is made of a full length Air unit and Cushlon foam, both branded on the shoe. Nike has been unit Zoom Air technology up until a couple of years ago when they decided to change it. The result is a very comfortable ride, especially for runs under 10 miles. However, the shoe lost a bit of its responsiveness once the Zoom unit was replaced. The heel to toe drop is 10mm on these which is pretty standard for a neutral running shoe. The traction pattern is the same as the 9th edition, one that is actually a very good feature of this shoe.
Bottom Line
To conclude our Nike Winflo 10 review, this is an excellent shoe for neutral runners that also look for an all around athletic activities option. While the price tag is a bit high, the price will likely drop soon , much like it happened with the previous edition. Even if avid runners may not get too excited due to the lack of responsiveness and price, casual runners will surely appreciate the comfort and versatility of this shoe. They are an excellent alternative to the much more expensive Pegasus or the React Infinity series.
