With the winter just around the corner it’s time to have a closer look at the Nike Air Max Goaterra and review its features. Released in 2016, this style is part of an effort from Nike to expand its sneaker boots line where we can also find the Manoa, Path, Rhyodomo and the Air Max Goadome. With a price tag of $140, the Goaterra is not the cheapest in this line but not the most expensive either. The silhouette is one of a classic boot equipped with Nike technology and classic branding.

We got a pair of these boots in cargo khaki , one of the two colorways they have been around in, the other being the all black. Out of the (very big) box these have a very sleek look and feel great on feet as soon as you put them on. They feel super comfortable and the quality of the materials is obvious, surely made to last.

Upper

The upper of the Nike Goaterra features a high quality leather that is also weatherproof so you can wear these pretty much in any conditions. There’s ample room in the toe box area and Blazer inspired oversized Swoosh on the sides. The minimalist design is reinforced by the monochrome colorway and subtle details like the extra panels on the heel tabs. The look is completed by a heel tab and rope laces. There is some cushioning in the heel area and tongue but not too much so they can be worn even as hiking shoes, not just winter boots. It’s up to you what socks you’ll wear and how warm you’ll get in these, they are made to conserve the heat and they do a great job at it. This Nike Air Max Goaterra review in October and they felt great, surely they are easy to add to any fall or spring attire as well given the simplistic, classic boot look.

Sole Unit

The Air Max visible unit is the most striking part of the sole, with a slight elongation towards the back that reminds us about the LTD. The rest of the midsole is made of Phylon foam that is soft to the touch. Along with the branding it is the sole unit that makes this boot distinguish itself from a classic boot. This makes these a favorite for those spending hours working or standing up outdoors (like law enforcement officers). On top of the midsole sits the usual EVA insole that will add even more cushioning. The outsole pattern gives them a nice grip and gives hikers a nice option for a boot but in wet conditions the rubber does not do the best job.

Bottom Line

All in all ,to conclude this Nike Air Max Goaterra review, these are great for those looking for a standard boot with extra comfort and the cool looks that Nike swoosh and Air Max Sole offer. It is a versatile sneaker boot that can be worn casually, at work or even hiking. While the retail is a bit steep you can often find these on sale and regardless, they are a good value as they are made to last and offer comfort for long hours. If you are turn off by the retail price or the militaristic look you can consider the Nike Woodside 2 or even alternatives from other brands like the Converse Berkshire for example.
