Once again, Jordan brand has released yet another high calibre sneaker for us to review, this time The Air Jordan Jumpman 2021 PF. Built for performance, the sneaker has been under the microscope to maximise functionality on the court using the brands most innovative technology. Taking cues from retros like the Jumpman Pro, this is a modern basketball shoe with retro vibes. Aesthetically, the sneaker is highly reminiscent of the Air Jordan 35, a shoe which has gained vast popularity due to its unique features. Both renditions offer Jordan brand’s signature curved side plate, along with other identical characteristics.
True to Jordan brand tradition, the sneaker has been released in the iconic Chicago colourway, palleted black, red and white. Other legendary colourways are also available, including white, red and black version as well as the notorious Grape palette.
Upper
The Air Jordan Jumpman 2021 is a PF edition, standing for Performance Fit. As the name suggests, the sneaker has been adapted to ensure maximum performance on the court. As standard, PF editions usually enhance traction and offer a wider fit. True to say then that the Air Jordan Jumpman 2021 complies with the given rule.
The upper of the sneaker is made up of a mix of materials. The base layer consists of a textile mesh to maximise breathability and comfort. Additional layers are used to reinforce fitting that really hug the contours of your foot. As mentioned, the sneakers foregrounded feature is the TPU side plate which is used to offer lateral support. The medial side of the sneaker replaces the plate with a perforated suede fitment. These features alone, offer the perfect recipe for the ideal, all-round basketball sneaker.
Jordan branding can be found on all angles of the shoe. Jumpman logos are fitted to the heel, side plate, tongue and insole whilst the number 23 is printed at the base of the lace loop tab.
Aesthetically, the shoe flows very well. A wave of horizontal lines follows the contours of the shoe whilst a woven threading is bedded vertically to offer a thoroughly dynamic look, exclusive to the AJ35 and Jordan Jumpman 2021.
Sole
The outsole of the Air Jordan Jumpman 2021 PF is where the brand has really specialised its innovative basketball technology. Proven to enhance grip both indoors and outside, the outsole features a zig-zag pattern in true herringbone fashion. This is accompanied by Jordan’s Air Zoom technology, built to cushion your strides on the court. A foam bubble, similar to that of Adidas Boost is featured within the outsole, again for comfort and performance purposes.
Similar to its 2020 counterpart the Jordan Jumpman 2021 PF features a phylon rubber midsole, this provides a wearer light, flexibility and resilient cushioning. The TPU side plate sits directly in the bed of the lateral side outsole to further reinforce stability, allowing the wearer to crossover fluently with the ball and enhance agile mobility.
This Performance Fit sneaker is all what represents the notorious Jordan brand we love and adore. The performance spring-like technology within the base of the sneaker enables you to take flight almost like Mike himself in true Air Jordan fashion.
