The Jordan Aura 4 is one of the latest sneakers that made it in our warehouse this week and we could not miss the opportunity to review it. Now at its 4th edition, Jordan Aura is one of the hybrid sneaker lines from the Jumpman brand, much like the Stay Loyal series. Like the other hybrids released in the last two decades it combines various elements from the retro series into a new design, in this case at a more affordable price. If the first two editions were heavily inspired from the Jordan 11, the second one was predominantly about the Air Jordan 9. Given the success of the series Jordan released the 4th edition in 2022 which draws attention with its Air Jordan 13 inspired look.
How They Fit
One of the pairs we got in stock was the black and gold colorway which features the patented mudguard, an AJ11 signature piece of design, one that we’ve also saw at the Jordan Aura 2 triple black. The shoes look great out of the box and they seem to have a very solid construction. They are quite lightweight for a mid top sneaker. They fit true to size but given the leather upper they may need a bit of break in for many, especially for those with wide feet. They are very comfortable once you settle in, bouncy and with the right amount of cushioning.
Upper
The upper of the Jordan Aura 4 is made of a combination of leather and mesh which gives it a retro feel. The upper side panels are a throwback to AJ13, being a simpler version of that model. Much like the other hybrid sneakers they lack a good air flow, even if they have some mesh in the upper. So it did not take us much to note during our Jordan Aura 4 review that during hot summer days or long hours of play on the court these may get your feet a bit sweaty. They are primarily advertised as lifestyle sneakers so this should not be your primal concern. The upper features the classic “Flight” and Jumpman logos which you can also find on the insole and outsole. The sneakers have a classic lace up system which provides excellent lockdown.
Sole Unit
Jordan Aura 4 features an EVA foam that is possibly Phylon with a partially visible Air Max unit in the heel. There is no midfoot shank in the sole like many retros have which takes away from its stability on the court but this is barely noticeable given that most will not try to use these as basketball shoes. There is an excellent heel to toe transition with nice shock absorption from the heel unit and nice, soft cushioning in the forefront. The outsole is a simplified version of the one from the AJ13, with the pods having a ribbed pattern for enhanced traction. The sole unit delivers excellent all day support which makes them a great everyday casual sneaker to wear.
Are Jordan Aura 4 basketball shoes?
While the Jordan Aura 4 features some design elements inspired by basketball shoes, they are not primarily marketed or recommended for use on the basketball court. The absence of a midfoot shank in the sole and the emphasis on being lifestyle sneakers makes it so they do not provide specific support and stability required for intense basketball activities. If you’re planning to use them for an occasional basketball game that will work.
Are Jordan Max Aura 4 comfortable?
The Jordan Aura 4 is very comfortable. They have a solid construction, lightweight feel for a mid-top sneaker, and a fit that becomes comfortable after a bit of break-in, particularly for those with wide feet. The EVA foam sole unit, including a visible Air Max unit, contributes to a comfortable and cushioned experience. They offer excellent all-day support, making them suitable for casual, everyday wear.
Who Are They For?
The Jordan Aura 4 sneakers are designed for individuals seeking a versatile and comfortable footwear option for everyday wear. With a solid construction, lightweight feel, and comfortable fit once broken in, they cater to those looking for a stylish and functional addition to their casual wardrobe.
Bottom Line
To conclude our Jordan Aura 4 review, they are a nice addition to the hybrid sneaker series from the brand. At $125 retail price you get a solid sneaker made up of quality materials that is made to last. Given their athletic versatility you can make them your “beater” sneakers if you want to save your more expensive retros from the everyday grind.
Update: In 2023 the Jordan brand introduced the Aura 5 , inspired from the AJ2 and AJ3.
