As we’ve gotten used to by now, the Converse x John Varvatos shoes collection is back again this season with more stylish, re-invented Chucks Taylor sneakers. The American designer started his collaboration with Converse in 2001, just a year after the debut of his first clothing line. The two brands have proven to be a perfect match for each other, with the collaboration still going strong till this day. John Varvatos was the first to turn the Chuck Taylors into slip-ons by ditching the laces all together, all while keeping the original silhouette pretty much the same. He also re-envisioned the Converse Weapon, a classic basketball shoe similar to the Aero Jam and turn it into a favorite lifestyle sneaker. The design elements stayed over the time along the same lines. The upper of the Converse x John Varvatos Chuck Taylors have included over the time vintage leather and canvas, featuring studded or perforated patterns. Snake leather and double zip are two of many other characteristics of this line. The classic rubber sole has always had some vintage touch, being mostly white with vintage shades to match the upper design. The outsole has a unique look and it’s likely the most recognizable design piece for this collection. It features a translucent rubber that covers a the signature red star logo and the All Star branding.
In 2017 the Converse x John Varvatos features several pieces, including mainly slip-ons for the summer season. the Vintage OX with perforated plush leather is one of the favorites, being available in three colors. The Crinkle Seersucker slip on is another distinct style, featuring a canvas upper with a puckered texture. The omnipresent leather low tops are here once again as well as a pair of Snake patterned leather hi tops to complete the collection.
The 2017 Converse x John Varvatos is as stylish as ever and its shows once again the immense potential of a classic, old silhouette. Check out the link below to see more pictures and check out the latest editions.
