With the adidas Multix going on sale recently we decided to check out a pair and review its features. This is a sneaker that was introduced in the spring of 2022 as part of the new summer lineup. With a $80 retail price it is considered a budget shoe even if it’s not the cheapest you’ll find in that category. It is a modern shoe that combines classic adidas elements with modern technology. Its silhouette is similar to the adidas NMD R1 but it’s a more basic shoe that it’s reflected in its price. From a price point of view but also as a design it is very close to the adidas Swift Run introduced 5 years prior.
How They Fit
Since we found a good deal on these we got a pair in black and white and one in white and black. Out of the box the Multix feels like a solid shoe even if in the pictures it does not look like one. For sure It doesn’t feel or look cheap. We got our normal size 11.5 but the shoes seemed a bit big so returned them and we went down half a size on a new pair. They fit well with no need to break them in yet I felt like the heel was slipping out a bit, not too much to bother me. If you are not sure about what size you need you can consult our Adidas size conversion chart here.
Upper
The upper of the Adidas Mutix is made of one mesh piece with synthetic overlays. While you’d expect a sock-like fit they do not achieve that a whole lot since the shoe is designed with a regular lacing system and tongue. However, since it is seamless it adds extra comfort and there is plenty of room in the toe box or even if you have a wider fit. It features a synthetic leather heel piece that is ment to add stability in that area. The curvature of the back of the heel may not be enough to keep your heel from sliding out , another reason to get at least a half size smaller than your normal Adidas size. The classic stripes and the other synthetic overlays are placed strategically to add stability to the upper area and they do a good job in this regard.
Sole Unit
The midsole is quite basic, being made of engineered EVA with some engravings that remind us of the NMD R1 plugs. But the comparison stops here, as you’d expect given Adidas’ goal of offering a low price, comfortable shoe that features a seamless upper. The outsole is made of a more durable rubber with a linear pattern that offers a decent grip for a casual sneaker. What we noticed during our adidas Multix review is that it is a quite versatile shoe, with the primary use as an everyday shoe. They offer basic arch support which works for light workouts and running too but if you’re a heavier person these are not for you. You can wear them for long hours but they will wear off quite fast, I do not see these lasting for more than a couple of seasons if worn daily.
Bottom Line
All in all, to conclude this adidas Multix review, these are great for those looking for a budget every day shoe that are stylish and modern looking. They remind me of the Nike Roshe One in terms of value offered. They are available in both men’s and women’s versions in various colors. They are not a hyped style but they are surely worth trying, especially as you can find them on sale nowadays. A similar all around shoe in the same price range is the New Balance Fresh Foam ROAV that is surely worth checking out.
