Recently we got a pair of one of the latest silhouettes from Nike, the Air Max Dawn and we got the chance to review its features. This style was released in early 2022 as part of Nike’s Move To Zero series , one that includes the Nike Air Max Pre-Day, introduced just a year earlier. Also named “Next Nature”, this series uses recycled materials for the shoes and the box they come in. At a retail price of $110 the Nike Air Max Dawn is considered a budget friendly sneaker nowadays given how high the prices jumped up lately.
How They Fit
We got our hands on a pair in white, blue and red that has a bit of the Team USA vibe. The box they come in is the one standard for this series that is made of recycled materials without any additional paper inside the box. It almost looks like they’re missing something if you did not see the big message on the box. As you’d expect from a Nike sneaker they look quite stylish, having a retro look that you cannot go wrong with. They fit a big snug which makes us recommend going up a half size on these, especially with the shape of the front midsole. If you’re not sure what size you need you can check out this sizing chart.
Upper
The upper of the Nike Air Max Dawn is made of at least 20% recycled materials according to the brand. It includes a mesh material that is lightly padded, a material that looks like a synthetic suede and a leather mudguard and swoosh. There is branding on the tongue, the pull tab and of course on the outsole. It features the usual cushioning around the ankle and tongue which gives you a nike plush feeling as you put them on. The material is breathable yet the synthetic overlays seem like they may wear out easily.
Sole Unit
The sole unit is made of the exposed Air Max unit in the heel and standard EVA midsole with the removable EVA insole on top. The design is completed by a wavy patterned outsole that is representative for the whole design; it does not excel in any regard, it is simple and effective. We quickly came to realize during our Nike Air Max Dawn review that these are some basic sneakers made for everyday wear and some casual athletic activities. These will do just fine in the gym for lightweight activities and even run for short distances. They are comfortable to wear all day as they offer some decent arch support. If you are a heavier person you may want to look elsewhere, however.
Bottom Line
Overall, to conclude our Nike Air Max Dawn review is that this is a stylish shoe that is a great option for those looking for an affordable everyday shoe. All for a $110 price tag which is among the lower ones for the Air Max line of sneakers. Other colorways that debuted with this red and blue one are the black and white version and the gray, navy and dark citron.
